Matrix Centralisers Set New World Record
R&D Solutions has been a proud supplier of Matrix Low and Ultra Low Friction Centralisers to customers in Australia and around the world for some time. We’ve seen the benefits to our customers from the unique Matrix technology time and again and we’re happy to report some more amazing results from a local operator using Matrix products.
Recently an Australian operator set a new world record, with the longest step-out ratio well screens installation in the world. The record was set in offshore Western Australia and saw well screens run with Matrix Revolution Ultra Low Friction Centralisers (shown below).
The horizontal screen displacement was 3,174 metres, with a true vertical depth of 640 metres. The stepout ratio was 4.96:1. In this case the actual hole length drilled was 3,660 metres (measured depth) and stepout ratio 5.72:1.
The well screens were installed without the aid of a rotation or other down hole system to aid deployment, saving time and money as well as maintaining simplicity for the operator.
The previous such record was Korchagina P107 in the North Caspian Sea, which had a stepout ratio of 3:1 and screen length of 2,705 metres.
Matrix and R&D Solutions are proud of this achievement and we look forward to the new challenges 2016 will bring.
