Technology Integration
Recently, R&D Solutions successfully integrated several selected technologies. We were approached by an operator to conduct well profiling, verify leakages, and perforate wells. Typically straightforward, however due to situational unique challenges; proximity to residential areas and a busy freeway necessitated R&D Solutions coordinating a group of specialist companies to deliver the task A core role for which we are renowned.
To ensure silent power supply, R&D Solutions partnered with Onetide, a local West Australian company known for provision of unique engineering solutions to Defence. Onetides Mobile Microgrid is one of their product suite, with a proven track record of delivering reliable hybrid renewable energy systems for operations in remote Western Australia. This system offers immediate pure sine wave, acoustically and electromagnetically silent power upon arrival onsite and can be replenished onsite through solar, wind, hydro, or mains grid electricity. Removing the requirement for costly and logistically challenging diesel logistics to remote locations. One of its unique features is its modularity enabling dynamic system size scaling to power draw requirements.
R&D Solutions utilized Well-SENSE Fibre Line Intervention (FLI) for well profiling. The FLI method, whilst being high resolution also is significantly faster than traditional well intervention techniques, featuring quick rig-up times., with the probe FLI measurements are distributed rather than confined to a single point, resulting in shorter survey durations. The total time from rig-up to rig-down is usually just a few hours, leading to considerable savings in rig time and enhanced safety since masts and similar equipment are not required.
FLI's compact design minimizes space and resource requirements at the well site. For this operation, only one wellsite engineer was necessary, further supporting the objective to reduce the physical footprint of the operation.
Analysis of the FLI results pinpointed the zones designated for perforation. Enabling deployment of Lee Energy Systems pyrotechnic free perforating was also conducted using hydraulically activated Gator Tools. A hydro-mechanical perforator that cuts 4 symmetrical holes in the casing string upon activation. The Gator Perforator allows operators to perforate multiple zones and see individual zonal injection rates on one trip. The system can be run on jointed pipe or coiled tubing.
